At Madison, we enjoyed our Fall Festival on October 31st. It was a really fun day! In the morning students who earned 15 Dojo points for the month of October AND had no missing work were invited to a "Creepy, Crawly Event"! We started by crafting a cake spider that students could then enjoy as a snack.
Next, we made a different tasty spider- out of pipe cleaners and Dum Dums! It was yet another Pinterest idea that the students loved...

Next, students enjoyed a National Geographic video all about creepy, crawly animals, such as spiders, snakes, and more! It featured the most venomous animals on the planet. It was fun, and we learned a lot!
That afternoon, students were introduced to www.sumdog.com. This is an awesome website that allows students to practice their math skills online, while competing against one another, against other schools, and even get to rack up points and "shop" for fun accessories for their avatar. Students are very motivated by Sumdog and now often beg for some playing time! Although we play here occasionally at school, students can log-in anytime and play for him to get more practice and increase their score!
At the end of the day, we finally had our Fall Festival celebration! Mrs. Ross helped organize the festivities and several parents sent in treats! The kids were boggled by just how many yummy snacks there were! Thanks to all who helped out! We created bean mosaics and and participated in marshmallow relays!
